May News - Lake Desire Community

May 28 Updates

1. Wildlife spotted, picture attached, in Lake Desire neighborhood – Thanks to neighbor Phyllis Jacobson for the picture, we now have visual evidence that the black bears are back to visiting our area trash cans and birdfeeders. This is a great reminder to please put your trash and birdseed in secure areas. This picture was taken near the boat launch.

2. Water Rescue on Memorial Day, on the lake
There was a water rescue on Lake Desire on Memorial Day. From what we understand a gentleman fell into the water from his boat and two others tried to help but fell in themselves. 911 was called and all are ok we believe.  A good time to remind all to be safe around water - and wear your life jackets. Thanks to Kathy Wetherbee and Michele Bettinger for the information.

3. Ladies Hiking Group starting back up for their first hike of the season on Wednesday, June 4th at 7pm. Hikes will be Tuesday and Wednesday nights, meeting at trailhead of West Lake Desire. If you have questions please email Dorothy at to.e@comcast.net.
4. Lake Desire Yard/Rummage Sale – Saturday, June 7th at 8am We had a great time last year at our Lake Desire Rummage Sale at the Clubhouse, so we are doing it again this year! Plan to set up about 7am, and tables rent for $10. We have 2 tables remaining to be rented, so drop me an email if you’d like to reserve one. staffordlkdesire@gmail.com. Thanks!
5. Lake Desire SUMMER BARBECUE! Save the date for Tuesday, August 5th at 6pm. Join us for our fun summer get together. The Club will provide Hamburgers and Hot Dogs, you can bring extra tables and chairs, sides/salads/desserts and drinks.  We do need to borrow a BBQ, if you are close by the clubhouse and have a way of getting your BBQ there and back. Also, if you can help set up or clean up, please send a quick mail to staffordlkdesire@gmail.com. See you there!
6. Wanted Wood: A cord, maybe a cord and a half, of split fire wood to hide a retaining wall. Because I won’t use the wood for burning, cheaper is better – any type of wood and green or seasoned so long as it is split. Also, pieces can be longer (saves you work) than most people want for burning, up to 24” long. If interested, email Dorothy at to.e@comcast.net.

7. Trader Joes– Trader Joes stores is coming to Kent East Hill!  Thanks for the tip, Tammie Cook: http://www.kentreporter.com/business/240379421.html
